We wanted to update you on a couple of encouraging conversations that we have got to have with some students since our start at Purdue!

I met two girls, Bri and Bri, from my hometown, Plymouth. I introduced myself to them, and I told them that I worked for Campus Outreach. When I explained to them what I did on campus, they told me that they went to church that week and had been wondering what it meant to be a Christian because the past two church services they went to talked about following Christ, and they didn't know what that meant, and if believing in God was enough. They invited me in to explain how I came to know the Lord which led into a gospel conversation. It encouraged my heart so much to see the Lord open a door so widely for me to share the gospel. They are very open to talking about the gospel and are interested in investigating some of the claims of the Bible. We are so thankful for you all laboring in prayer for us, and please pray for both of these two girls.

I, Kyle, also got an opportunity to have an encouraging interaction with a student, named Mike, from China. I met him on his floor and we quickly hit it off as I inquired about how he is liking the States and what China is like. A few days later Mike and I, along with some other freshmen from his floor, played ping pong. He definitely beat me, but in the mean time I got to tell him what I did on campus. He was very intrigued and I soon found out his only concept of Christianity was through a Hollywood movie he saw in China. Through a longer conversation he told me that he did not believe in God, but did have questions and was wanting to know if it was ok to ask those questions. He commented that he would like for me to help him in his "spiritual journey" and that the next time we were to hang out he wanted to talk more about this subject. I was blown away by his willingness to be open to discuss the reality of God!

Summer Update/Fall plans

With the school year beginning and summer ending, we feel as if we need to catch you up to date on our life! We have done a lot of back and forth traveling...

We began this summer with traveling to Orlando for six weeks so start and sustain our summer project, The Orlando Project, for the 150 students that attended. After this, we traveled back to Mitchell Indiana for a few weeks to connect with our supporters, with our dessert update and some individual meetings. We returned to Orlando for two more weeks to close out the Project and for our staff training.

We drove back to Mitchell to continue to connect with some supporters and to speak at church. We have finally arrived to our new home in West Lafayette, where we have been unpacking and meeting with our staff team to make our plans for the year! After developing our plans, here are the things we are trusting God for-

Trust Gods:

To raise up a solid group of 1^st generation moldable disciples
Full access to campus life
To become experts of our “nation”
A embracing church to partner with us
Our students would labor and reproduce Christ in others
A Christ exalting ministry would be established

This is going to be an exciting year for us as we step on to Purdue's campus for the first time. Freshman Orientation starts the 15th of August and classes begin on August 24th. We are excited to take part in some of the orientation courses to familiarize our self with the campus and to meet new students.

Please pray with us as we meet new people that God would give us favor with students and that we would be able to communicate the gospel clearly.

Picture taken during Word Training: This consists of meeting together and studying the Bible for 3 hours on every Monday night. So far we have completed inductive studies on Philippians and Galatians as well as two weeks focusing on Phil 2:3-4 and Phil 3:13-14

**Not pictured is another big component to our summer, Evangelism Training. Each Thursday night we designate 1 hour of training in evangelism and 2 hours of actually going to share our faith at various places in Orlando. We help show the students how they can strike up a genuine spiritual conversation with those they encounter. We have focused on the motivation (why we share), the message (what is the gospel) and a few methods (how to share the gospel) in evangelism this summer!

Thank you for all of your prayers! Students really are being transformed more into the image of Christ as they behold the cross!

Orlando Project 2009

Friends,

We have officially been in Orlando for a little over a week now. The first few days were so busy! Our large meeting rooms for the summer needed a lot of cleaning, and we were able to work on them thoroughly, and we were able to work on details of rooming, etc. for the project! A couple days later, our leaders came to receive training on discipling and serving the students that would be in their rooms for the summer. The 150 disciples arrived on May 24.

There are three teams of two team leaders-one man and woman for each team. Each team has had a lot of momentum, and overall, the students have been soaking up all of the training. Our theme verse for the summer is II Corinthians 3:18:

"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit."

Our prayer is that as we behold Christ, the Lord will transform us into more like Christ. We are excited to see this not only in our own lives, but the lives of the students who have come to Orlando to invest their summer into growing in their walks with Christ.

One of the major component trainings of the summer is evangelism. Kyle is leading it for the first part of the summer. He will be passing it on to one of the team leaders to take over when we leave in June.

Kyle did an excellent job in the first evangelism training meeting. The theme verse for this component is...

"If I say,' I will not mention him or speak any more in his name,' there is in my heart as if it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot." Jeremiah 20:9

Kyle talked about Jeremiah, and how he was given a distinct message to tell Israel-- to repent. Jeremiah had many reasons not to speak--his youth (1:6), public humiliation and a laughing stock (20:7), and toil, sorrow, and shame (20:18), but Jeremiah had many reasons to speak--God commanded him (1:7), God was with him (1:8), God's promise to him (1:18-19), and God gave him a message of truth (2:1).

We are so much like Jeremiah: we have been entrusted with a message, and our message is the gospel!

Pray with us and for the project that the gospel would be a fire within us that we frequently proclaim!

We love getting to invest into these young believers in this way. Your support, prayers, emails, and phone calls are much appreciated. We are so thankful to have supporters like you.

May 19th: Arrive in Orlando for 5 1/2 weeks!

As you can see this is a very busy month. Would you pray for our walks that we would continue to make ample daily time to know Him! (John 17:3).

20/20 Spring Retreat

Our theme to this year's spring retreat was 20/20. The talks of the weekend were focused on seeing our sin clearly, seeing our need for the Gospel, and also seeing how spiritual multiplication can take place through discipleship.

It was awesome to see how God opened eyes to see His Word so clearly. Thank you for praying for this retreat and also for the individuals who came! We are excited to continue to follow up with everyone who attended.

Donald Whitney Update!

Here is a conversation I had recently with my friend, Marci after reading an article with her:

Me: So what do you think?

Marci: It makes a lot of sense. This article answered all of my questions.

Me: What questions did it answer for you?

Marci: About salvation--like what it says about good works and how they are a result of receiving Christ, but you don't have to do good works to receive Christ...

Our staff team likes to use this article a lot to help people who are spiritually interested move forward in their spiritual journey. It is a great tool to use because it clearly explains the Gospel, and it will usually stir up a conversation that will help to distinguish what could be holding a person back from placing their trust in Christ.

Kyle and I wanted to highlight some of what Donald Whitney taught us at our First Love Retreat. One of the main areas of discipline that Whitney focused on was prayer. He said that our problem with prayer is that we "say the same old things about the same old things". Praying about the same old things isn't a bad thing, it's normal! For many of us, we feel that prayer can be boring, and when prayer is boring, we don't feel like praying, and when we don't feel like praying, we just don't pray.

Whitney taught us a method of prayer that will, by God's grace, transform our prayer lives. His method/solution was to pray through scripture each day; his suggestion was a psalm.

If you would like to try this, choose a psalm and and begin by praying through it by each line. Whatever comes to mind, pray about it. When nothing else comes to mind, continue to the next line. Pray until you finish the psalm or run out of time!

If you would like to do this on a daily basis, Whitney's suggestion was to start by taking the day of the month as your psalm to pray. Just say that it was the 15th of the month. Add 30 to that number, then your next psalm would be psalm 45. If we continued this, it would be psalm 75,105, and 135. Look over these psalms, then choose the one you would like to pray through.

This method of prayer has been great for both us and our students. By praying through the psalms, it gives us direction to begin praying each day, and it also has brought to mind different things to pray about, that we normally wouldn't take the time to pray. We hope that this new way of praying will be as beneficial to your own walk with the Lord as it has been for us.

Beginning of Semester Update!

As we have just finished the first four weeks of the semester, we have much to fill you in on!

First, we have been meeting regularly on Sunday nights with our students for prayer, and we have been greatly encouraged by the commitment of our students to meet with us weekly to pray for the lost on our campus. It has been refreshing for us to hear different stories about God providing open doors for some of these new believers to share the Gospel; Kyle and I have enjoyed this time as we have seen new believers come faithfully.

Kyle has been holding a bible study every week for some men who have professed Christ last semester, along with a couple of guys who were believers when they came to college. It has been awesome to see these guys grow. Christian is growing, Joel has been sharing his testimony with many people, and Ethan, Tucker, and David all being faithful to the study. The guys seem to be enjoying it as well as benefiting from it for their own personal growth in their relationship with God.

Finally, we have an exciting opportunity coming up this weekend. Donald Whitney, who wrote Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, is coming up to Terre Haute to speak to our students, along with some students from the University of Southern Indiana, on developing spiritual disciplines to deepen our intimacy with Christ. We are calling this the "First Love Retreat", which is fitting since it's Valentine's Day Weekend! We are excited for this opportunity, so please pray with us that it will help the Body of Christ at ISU to grow in our walks with the Lord.

Please pray for Marci; she seems close to putting her trust in Christ. Pray with us that God would draw her to Himself.

Winter Break Update!

Team,

Thank you for your labor in prayers for our Milwaukee Christmas Conference! Seven students made professions to have come to Christ! Pray that God would begin to root them in Christ and establish them in the faith (Col. 1:7).

Unfortunately, during a ski trip over conference, Kyle got in an accident while he was skiing with some students. He went over a ramp, and landed on the back of his head, leaving him with a concussion and an injured hip. He dislocated and fractured his hip. He gained his memory throughout the day, and the doctor said that Kyle had "the best fracture" that he could get. Most likely he won't have to have surgery, but he goes to the doctor this Thursday to get it checked out. Please pray that he wouldn't have to! He is doing better each day, and he has officially been able to walk around without his crutches!

Today was the first day of classes for the Spring semester, and we were excited to get back on campus to catch up with students we haven't seen since Christmas break. Our prayer for them is that God would continue to work mightily in their hearts and that He would draw more people to Himself.

Other exciting news for this semester is that Kyle is starting some Bible studies with some young believers, including Joel, who came to Christ at MCC. They will be working through a workbook called "Building Blocks", which is aimed for new/young believers to help them grow in their relationship with Christ.

I will begin to disciple three girls that have been in our ministry for about a year. We will be going through a book called Christian Beliefs: 20 basics every Christian should know by Wayne A. Grudem. It is the condensed version of Bible Doctorine, which is a condensed version of Systematic Theology. Our hope is that it will give these young women (including myself) a solid foundation that will help us to distinguish and stand upon theological truths of the Bible. We have both loved what we have read thus far, and we highly recommend believers to read this book!

Encouraging Text Message

This past week I got a text message from Seth (A freshmen who I got to see put his faith in Christ a few weeks ago) that encouraged me greatly. The context is that he just became a believer and has been sharing Christ with many of his friends. He wasn't able to make it to our weekly meeting and this is how he told me...

"I am not going to be able to make it 2nite i am in indy...but i tell you what I am working on Sean pretty hard, pleaz pray 4 him i think that God's going to bring him around here soon. Just need to pray that he works quick like he did me..."

Text from Me:

"Ill pray! Have a good time and be bold with the grace of God!"

First Two Weeks

We have completed our first two weeks at Indiana State, and it was filled with many emotions and happenings! Tiffany and I are mainly spending our time in a freshman dorm called Blumberg, which houses about 300 freshmen students (we have met nearly all of them)! I also spend a considerable amount of time on a freshman pilot's floor in another dorm. The focus of these first two weeks has simply been to meet and build relationships with as many people as possible. Below is a picture of all the freshmen attending ISU this year

It was very tiring trying to meet all the students, but also very rewarding! The most rewarding thing that has taken place is already getting to see a young man place his faith in Christ! This was an absolute miracle that I got to witness. My prayer for Him is that the Word would not be snatched away, or chocked out, but that he would bear much lasting fruit! (Mark 4:20) I cannot wait to update you more as time progresses with this young man!

Please be specifically praying for these new relationships: that they would deepen in trust and for the opportunity to get to share the truth of the Gospel with many this year!

Accident Update

Thank you so much for your prayers this week in regards to my bike accident, they have been much needed as I am slowly recovering. This is what happened-- on Tuesday nights, I ride with a group of cyclists from Terre Haute. I was in a group of about 20 riders cycling at about 30 mph heading down a hill. A fellow rider accidently merged into me knocking me off of my bike and onto the asphalt. Shortly after impact, another rider (Dan) could not avoid me and hit me, sending him into the road. He was immediately knocked unconscious, and we were both rushed via ambulance to the ER. His injuries include a concussion, 12 stitches above his eye, 4 fractured teeth, and a broken wrist. By Gods grace I managed to get by with no major injuries but just a lot of road rash on my elbows, knees, hip, hands, and right leg. The impact also severely bruised my hip and lower back. This is what is giving me the most trouble. Today has been better, but until yesterday I couldn't even sit or stand up on my own strength. This was a problem knowing that move in for freshmen is on Saturday the 16th.

As of now I am making progress. I can get up on my own and walk around, but with a lot of pain. I will really need alot of prayer tomorrow as I head to the dorms at 8 to meet students moving in. I pray to keep meeting and greeting until 12 that night. (Tiffany will be doing the same)

The next few weeks will be packed. It is a critical time on the campus for building relationships. We will be doing a lot of events to build relationships as well as taking advantage of campus events to connect with students. These connections will prayerfully lead to many Gospel conversations. Practically, I need prayer for physical strength these next few weeks. Between Tiffany and I there are over 200 students we are aspiring to meet the next couple days, so pray for us in boldness and favor with our new relationships.

Thank you for your prayers, and I cannot stress how critical these next couple weeks are. Pray, pray, pray!

Home from Orlando

Tiffany and I returned from Orlando Sunday night to close out our summer project for the 115 students involved. The project definitely met its goal as those attending grew tremendously in a passion for Gods name and renown!

After the students left on the 29^th we began a staff fellowship time until the 3^rd . This was an amazing time for us. It was great to be around the entire Indianapolis team as well as having a special speaker, Mike Hearon. Mike was one of the first students led to Christ by Curtis Tanner, who founded Campus Outreach in the 1978. Because he is currently the oldest staff working with CO, he had much wisdom and insight about ministry to pass on to us. He gave four talks to the staff based around these four points…

1. Faith, the currency of the Kingdom

2. Sacrifice, the culture of the Kingdom

3. Convictions, the compass of the Kingdom

4. Perspective, the catalyst of the Kingdom

These talks empowered and refreshed us greatly as we move towards the start of the semester (August 16^th- Freshman Move in).

Vision and excitement was imparted to Tiffany and I as Mike told about his first year on staff at Montevallo. That year many football players come to Christ and Mike began to disciple six of those men. From the best of their knowledge since 1983, out of those six men, over 20,000 people have come to Christ, 5,000 have attended summer projects, and over 30,000,000 dollars have been given to missions! Tiffany and I are praying for this to happen at ISU through us! Please pray with us that the word would produce these results to impact the world…

“But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” Mk 4:20

“With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes largest than all the garden plants and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.” Mark 4:30-32

Lastly we have a new addition to our ISU staff team. Kyle Wallace just finished raising support and he was placed at Indiana State to target athletes! It’s exciting to have such a big team to labor with!

Fall Planning

Tiffany and I spent this past week planning for the upcoming school with the rest of the ISU team. It has been an incredible time of gaining vision and excitement for the Fall. So much was covered and so much was planned. I have listed below the progression of our planning.

What are we laboring for? (Establishing a three year vision)
What are we hoping for? (Establishing "Trust Gods" for this coming school year)
What is our focus? (Establishing "Wildly Important Goals" that our staff team is committed t0)
What is our part? (Establish Action Steps)
How will we stay on track? (Create a "Scoreboard" or evaluation/accountability)

Each day we spent a great amount of time asking ourselves these questions. Through seeking the Lord and brainstorming within the team, God gave us clear answers to all of these that will direct how we spend our time at Indiana State.

I want to include you in on some of the conclusions that we have came to after asking ourselves these questions. Below are what we are laboring for and what we are trusting God with at ISU...

What are we laboring for? (Three Year Vision)

2-3 laborers in each sorority
The Indiana State campus community thankful for our ministry’s presence due to positive campus impact
Graduating excellent-minded students
A student initiated world prayer movement
The Freshman dorms fully saturated with the Gospel
Teams of students planning to move into the world (including one team preparing to launch to a foreign country)
A spiritual movement on campus would take place
A culturally and socially diverse Body of Christ on campus (including Greeks, Athletes, African Americans, Asians, etc.)
A core of 100 students who are committed to the process of discipleship

What are we hoping for this year? (Trust God's)

40 new moldable disciples (20 men/20 women)
Senior class having the opportunity to lead someone to Christ and leave behind a legacy
Seniors have a clear direction for their future by Spring Break (exporting in strength)
Each freshman dorm is effectively penetrated with the gospel by our staff team
That our church and pastor relationships at World Gospel Church would strengthen and deepen

These things that we are trusting God for are huge and they cannot happen by our efforts! We desperately need your prayers for God to move!

Pray for us also as we head back to Orlando to wrap up the summer project. It will be a great time including students in the vision for ISU next year as well as a week long of staff training. I look forward to updating you on all that God teaches Tiffany and I through our training time!

4th of July Weekend

It was a wonderful 4th of July weekend for Tiffany and I as we got to see many of you for the first time in a while! We had a great time enjoying Mitchell's Fireworks Friday night with Grace Bible Church. Time with family on Saturday led to speaking at Tulip Street on Sunday morning. I was so thankful for this opportunity to share about my vision with Campus Outreach and my story leading up to coming on staff with the Indianapolis team. The outline of my talk included...

It was so fun getting to share about the amazing grace that God has poured into both of our lives and also about our vision through getting to work with the Campus Outreach team (I hope that I can get the audio online soon)! My heart is still excited about what I got to share about. Each time I sit and ponder the impact of a person who is willing to share his faith and disciple young believers, my heart races (2 Tim 2:2)! It is almost too good to believe how fast the world could hear of salvation through Christ! How good God is to not only save us, but also to use us to glorify His name! If we as believers would only die to ourselves to bear much fruit, the impact would be great (John 12:24-25). God is searching for men to use in this way (Ez 22:30, Jer 5:1)! This is our burden, that for the glory of God, laborers would be sent into the harvest (Mark 9:37-38). Take some time and read through these verses and meditate upon them; they have been so instrumental both Tiffany and my life!

The most encouraging time this weekend was having so many interactions with you who are so excited about this fall to start for us. Its humbling knowing we have so many of your prayers and how many of you are backing us. I am so thankful for your support, that through you we get to devote the next four years of our life to making disciples! Thank you Tulip Street, thank you Grace Bible, thank you Faith Journey Fellowship, and thank you to all the individuals; without you this would not be possible.

Back from Orlando!

We are home from Orlando until late July (see schedule on right for details). Orlando was great in many respects. It was great for our hearts, our marriage, our vision, and the Gospel moving forward. One of my most memorable times from the summer was taking a younger believer to share our faith and we ended up sharing the Gospel with people from four different countries (Mexico, Sweden, England, & Haiti) in about an hours span! Only in Orlando can you do that!

It was hard in some regards leaving the project. The hardest thing was leaving an environment where young believers are growing tremendously in their knowledge of Christ, the Bible, and how to share their faith. This is one of the most joyous things I get to be a part of. I love dreaming of how these students will continue to develop rock solid convictions in the Faith and pass on Gods name to generations to come!

However leaving did bring much joy. We are enjoying settling in and setting up our apartment. After not having a place of our own for the first six weeks of our marriage it is nice having a place to call home. Here is a picture of what it looks like so far!

(This apartment is just another testament of Gods faithfulness to us.)

Our schedule to the right shows the layout of the next couple months for us, but the next four weeks will mainly be spent in Terre Haute. This will be time used mainly to settle in and prepare for the coming semester. The last week in Terre Haute will be with the ISU Staff team developing goals and a vision for the upcoming year.

We will keep you updated as time progresses but we wanted to let you know we are safely back from Orlando and moved into Terre Haute. Also, I will be speaking during both services (9:00 and 10:45) at Tulip Street on July the 6th. I hope to see many of you there so we can catch up with you more.

From Wedding to Orlando Project

Dear friends and family,

We wanted to give you an update on our life over the past few busy weeks. We officially became the Lee family on May 10, 2008. Our wedding was beautiful; we had so much fun celebrating our marriage with many of you there.

The morning after our wedding, we were on our way to the Royal in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We spent eight days enjoying our honeymoon together. As soon as we arrived back in Mitchell, we packed our belongings in our car, and headed down to Orlando, Florida for our summer project.

The theme verse for this year's Orlando Project is Pulse, and it is derived from Is. 26:8 "Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts". The staff team decided on this theme because we long for the "pulse" of our lives to beat for knowing who God is and taking His name to the lost word.

There are 115 students on project this year, many of which are new believers. We will be spending time with these students, helping them grow in their faith through spending time in the Word together, praying with them, and also by taking these new believers out to share the Gospel. It has encouraged our hearts greatly to be around these students who are so hungry to grow. Also, it has increased our vision for this fall on campus as we trust God to call men and women to Himself.

There is so much more about the OP that we could share about, but we will keep it at that for now. Please pray for the many opportunities each week given to us to share our faith, as there have already been many great evangelistic conversations with people in Orlando.
